Reyes Jara’s career at Game Lounge is a testament to how far ambition, adaptability, and a proactive mindset can take you. Since joining in 2016, she’s taken on new challenges, built operations from the ground up, and progressed to Head of Operations in just eight years.

Starting as an Office Coordinator in a company of just 35 employees, Charlene has risen through the ranks to become Head of Vibe & Comms, shaping not only her own career but also the very identity of Game Lounge.  Her journey is a masterclass in taking initiative, driving change, and making things happen.

Game Lounge’s office in Spinola has long been the home away from home for their Malta based employees. As the business grew, so did the need for more collaborative spaces, while shifting post-COVID work trends reduced the demand for desk space. A much-needed refurbishment promised to create a workspace that reflects this new way of working.

All Robert Cassar Pace wanted was a summer job; he has now been with us for over seven years, working his way up from intern to senior data architect. It’s a story that plays out commonly across Game Lounge, but is no less impressive whenever it happens, and it has taught us a valuable lesson - given time, investment in their potential, and fostering a sense of dedication to their careers, employees will thrive.

This past summer, we launched a 4-Day Work Week experiment aimed at finding the right balance between operational efficiency and employee well-being. For the months of July and August 2024, all Game Lounge employees were given Fridays off with no effect on the rest of their working week or salaries - just 8 working hours less per week.
