Game Lounge Career Spotlight: Victor Artufel

From Web Content Writer to SEO Manager in just seven years, Victor Artufel’s journey at Game Lounge is a story of curiosity, mentorship, and stepping outside his comfort zone. Embracing challenges and driving innovation, he’s not only strengthened SEO foundations but also inspired his team to grow with him.

From French Content Writer to Senior SEO Manager

Victor‘s rise from a newcomer at Game Lounge to leading its SEO team in just seven years shows how his willingness to embrace the unfamiliar sparked remarkable growth. Today, he heads the SEO department.

Victor’s journey with Game Lounge began in 2018 when he joined the company as a Web Content Writer, his first job in the iGaming industry. He started to work alongside the department head at the time to share his knowledge on SEO and steer the content team toward smarter, results-driven practices.

My responsibilities were to bring that knowledge to life and improve our sites by consolidating their SEO foundations: site content structure, keywords research, content rework, etc,” Victor says about his main duties as part of the SEO team.

Looking back at his early days, he reflects on the steep learning curve: “I had a lot to do at the beginning between bringing the content team together on the same level of SEO and working on a lot of sites within different markets at the same time. It was important to explain the different SEO rules and best practices as clearly as possible and make them make sense in the context of writing casino-related content. Understanding each market helped in prioritizing and breaking down tasks into long term projects, and this was challenging in its own right.”

Mentorship and moving forward at Game Lounge

In under three years, Victor moved from assistant to specialist, and then into his current role as SEO Manager.

While his natural curiosity kept him learning about SEO, he credits his rapid career progression to the encouragement of his former manager – a mentor who always pushed him beyond his comfort zone, giving him the confidence to take on more responsibility at Game Lounge even when he didn’t feel ready.

It was tough at times, but it helped me learn fast, tackle new challenges, and grow both technically and as a team lead,” he says. “I really believe there’s no better way to grow than being in front of something uncomfortable that you just have to deal with. It’s through this that I developed adaptability and problem-solving skills.”

Victor also highlights the support he’s received from senior colleagues and peers along the way, who provided him with support and guidance whenever he needed it. He also credits Game Lounge for creating an environment where exploring new ideas, both within and outside of his role in SEO, has always been encouraged.

Defining moments and personal milestones

One pivotal moment in Victor’s career came when his manager left the company. Without aiming for the role, he stepped up to help lead the SEO team during the transition, temporarily taking on the responsibilities of Head of SEO. It was a key opportunity to support his team and grow through hands-on leadership.

That same growth mindset has shaped his work as SEO Manager, where he’s focused on strengthening foundational SEO and building internal knowledge.

It also played a role in a recent project he’s especially proud of: the Impact Calendar, a tool designed to help the team track their work and analyse its impact.

It took me a few months to figure out how to blend data from different sources, develop processes to record our actions and make it easy to use and understand,” Victor says. “I’m very happy with the end results, and it’s already helping us make more and better data-driven decisions!”

Seven years in

Beyond tools and strategy, what drives Victor is helping others grow. He’s passionate about sharing his knowledge with his team, mentoring junior team members, and seeing them evolve into confident SEO professionals.

This is my favourite part of leading a team at Game Lounge,” he says.

He also works to create the same open, collaborative environment that supported him throughout his own growth. “I always encourage everyone to come forth with ideas regardless of how crazy they can be. We might not use them exactly as suggested, but there’s almost always something useful we can pull from them.”

Seven years in, Victor still feels that he’s growing. “There is always something that I want to get better at or learn,” he says. “And Game Lounge has been very supportive”.

His words of wisdom to others looking to grow their careers? “Don’t be afraid to expand your scope beyond your own domain. Stay curious, ask questions, collaborate, and be confident!”
