WATCH: Game Lounge: Looking into 2026

Richard Dennys, CEO of Game Lounge, addressed employees during a morning brunch event where he recapped the previous year and spoke of how Game Lounge will develop through 2026.

Game Lounge CEO Richard Dennys kicked off the year during a morning brunch event by welcoming the teams back after the holiday break.

Dennys’ address to the packed social area of employees placed emphasis on heading into the year with a focus on teamwork, momentum, and real collaboration aimed at working towards growth and shared wins.

Present alongside the CEO and the rest of the Game Lounge team were the C-Suite team: CFO Nicholas Zahra, CPTO Keith Cassar, and CSTO Vlad Jankovic.

Looking back at 2025, and looking forward to 2026

The Game Lounge CEO began by discussing the previous year, describing it as a “year of two halves,” as he further remarked that the first half of the year was “stellar” and “record-breaking in every sense”.

Dennys commended everyone involved in the turnaround over the second half of the year, commenting that several teams worked hard. “The SEO, content, and video teams, everyone in content distribution worked really hard. The conversion, data, and product teams, HR, everybody worked their socks off.”

“It’s still a very profitable and very successful business,” Dennys said. “We are an affiliate business, and therefore you have a momentum that kind of builds and slows, as it goes in slow gradual ups and downs. The revenue share tends to stay fairly stable. He said that everyone at Game Lounge should be very proud of what has been accomplished.

Reflecting on December, he said that there was “lots and lots of positivity”. He stated that Game Lounge did what we were supposed to, with lots of updates being seen around online reviews and recommendations, and traffic coming up due to fresh content being provided in a way that is consumable by audiences.

Dennys remarked that running a business like Game Lounge is interesting, as he said that one of the things leadership is looking at now is how to migrate into a new world as we move away from long-form content and shift towards media on a broadcast level through videos, clips, social media, and other related forms of content. Discussing this change, Dennys said that user behaviour and the way that people are consuming data is changing.

Game Lounge’s development moving forward

Dennys said that discussions between the technical team and the founders have revolved around what Game Lounge looks like in 2026 to 2028, and stated that it will be moving above and beyond online print to “much more of a broadcast philosophy”. He spoke of how the video team has shorts, clips, live-streaming, and podcasts among other forms of media content, and he commented that this kind of content is going to become very important as Game Lounge moves through the year.

In terms of this content focus, he said that Game Lounge will be spending the next four to six months working through moving into “much more of a live broadcastable video-type future”.

“We’re going to try and make a big effort on that,” he added. “That’s not a small amount of energy, because that’s going to include everybody from content writers, all the way through to hosts, as well as the platform it sits on, the data team, CRM team, acquisition team, and AI team.” On the topic of AI, Dennys said that it is both overwhelming and exciting. He commented that the opportunities presented need to be taken in a way that makes sense.

He noted that there are challenges ahead, but that Game Lounge has a good team and is starting off the year with hope, optimism, and energy. “Energy is very important, and we’ve got to make sure that we don’t lose that energy… It’s a very competitive world out there, we’ve got to be very strong and work together. We’re only as good as the weakest member of our team.”

“We don’t have all the answers, but we’re always listening, and we’re going to spend more time on that and really listen to what people have to say. There’s fantastic energy and ideas about what we could and should do, and it’s really good,” the Game Lounge CEO stated.

Dennys concluded by saying that the message for 2026 is to transform and move forward, as he remarked that the world is changing, but that Game Lounge has a great team and backers.

“Thank you very much for 2025, and here we go for 2026.”
